AS YOU APPROACH THE MALDIVES FROM THE AIR, YOU SENSE BEING ON THE WAY TO SOMETHING TRULY SPECIAL.

As far as the eye can see are small coral islands like pearls in the Indian Ocean. A tropical paradise with sun, crystal clear lagoons and snow-white beaches with gently swaying coconut palms. Birds in beautiful colors flying above the clearest sea imaginable. Colorful fish and plants make the Maldives one of the best places to dive and snorkel.

Maldives comprises of about 1,200 coral islands, of which 200 are inhabited. The southernmost part of the 750 kilometers long archipelago is crossing the Equator and consists of 26 atolls, which have arisen around volcanoes that have sunk in the sea.
There are 340,000 inhabitants in the Maldives, one-quarter of whom live in the capital, Male. The Maldivians primarily make a living by fishing, boat-building, agriculture and especially tourism.

To get to the islands, you must travel by boat or seaplane. On the islands, there is usually only a small hotel, built with great respect to its original natural surroundings. Most places you can walk around barefoot, and often, you can walk around the island in less than half an hour.

Maldives weather - when to go

We often get the question "when is the best time to visit Maldives?"

Maldives is a year-round holiday destination.

Maldives is a very attractive travel destination all year-round due to the islands' location outside the hurricane belt. It is also close to the equator, which means sunshine on most days, and an average temperature around 30 degrees, regardless of the season. The night temperatures are around 25-26 degrees.

The temperature varies little, and the heat is always very comfortable - and so is the temperature of the sea, which is almost always 28 degrees.

High-season in Maldives is from January to April , which are also the seasons with the least rain.

From May to December is when you can experience some rain. Although this is the rainy season, it rarely rains for more than a few hours a day. Even when it does rain, the temperature is still comfortably warm. No matter the season, you can expect an average of 7-8 hours of sunshine every day. This makes Maldives a great year-round destination for everyone who loves the sun and lovely beaches.
